When i first heard that 50 cent declared that he would leave the music business if Kanye's album (both were released today) will beat him at sales, i thought it was a stupid arrogant thing to do. and coming from someone like 50 it didn't surprise me at all.
now that was til today when i first heard 50's new single - "Ayo Technology". my jaw literally dropped when i saw this video today. produced by man of the moment Timbaland and featuring another man of a few moments Justine Timberlake, this one absolutely blew my mind.
while minimizing 50's participation to as little as possible and using JT to fill in the blanks, combined with another crazy timbaland style sample taken from his ever growing vocabulary that simply corresponds with every existing genre on earth, it is really hard to ignore Ayo. now add to this already winning formula, a million dollar video... I just love 2007, long live Timbaland. now we have to wait and see how well kanye's album will sell :-)

I, for one, find it pretty hard to be blown away by either the clip or the song itself. While it's evident that a lot of financial effort was put into the video, It is still as empty as its subject(s). I think that in the long run artists like Kanye West (regardless of the album-selling data) will endure farther then passing trends like 50 cent (and Facebook - there, I had to put it outta my system).
